Providers

Making the choice to
be a child care provider means that you have chosen to be more than
just a babysitter. This is a career choice and a profession that
you as the business owner need to keep updated on all new rules
and regulations.
We have divided this page into 3 different areas of interest. The
first being the state website where you will
find all rules and regulations. The second is a sample of forms
and contracts. The third section is miscellaneous
information.

Miscellaneous Information
Family child care isn’t always as easy as a lot of people
think it is.
- There is a lot of
wear and tear on your home.
- The hours are very
long, many times an 11-12 hour day, in some cases, providers are
providing 24 hour care.
- You are in your home
for what feel’s like 24 hours a day, and the wall’s
are
closing in.
- There is the stress
of families who do not honor your policies and contracts.
- You are relied on
heavily to be available at all times to your clients.
- Possible your own
children are having a hard time dealing with the stress of other
children invading their Mom and Their “stuff” for
such long hours of the day.
Lets face it, this is a profession where you can become easily
isolated and burned out if you do not have a support group somewhere
or take the time to pamper yourself.
Remember to take care of yourself. Take the time to have a manicure
or pedicure and if you really want to pamper yourself, try a massage.
Try to get out of the house at least a few evenings a week. Window
shopping, a movie, go to the gym or just a walk around your neighborhood.
Anything to help you unwind from the day.
Becoming a member of Desert Daycares Creating Connections (DDCC)
lets you meet other daycare providers who understand the demands
and stress that you experience. They can help you address some of
the problems mentioned above.
Attend education classes
and conferences. This really helps with new ideas and energy for
our profession. Our little clients deserve all that we can do for
them. We are fortunate to be in a profession where it is possible
to make a difference in someone’s life. We would not be in
this profession unless we truly enjoyed the little people that come
into our lives.
